Count Down Now Over - But the Journey Continues

Today is July 1, 2011. That means today 10 years ago at this very moment, I was at the hair dresser - preparing for my big day.   Pure madness!  10 women, same hair dresser, lots of make up.  Makes me smile just thinking about it.  Dee, Tiffany, Tiffany, Tesa, Dina, Lyn and Ariana - thanks for standing with me on what was the best day of life. Sniff Sniff - :)!

So back to the the chronicles, today was to be the end of my journey, my day to have conquered the weight thing. Well I did not make it, but you know I don't feel bad.  I have made so much change in the past few months that I can feel really good about where I am today.  My anniversary trip is in October so that's my actual deadline. I am gonna do this thing!

So, here's to another 10 years and a healthier 10 years than the first.

24 lbs down and 24 to go. Yup I am at the 50% mark. Wohoo!

So it's February, going strong and I mean really strong. I started listening to this book in January called Mindless Eating. Had it for like 5 years and never made it past the first chapter. So I decide to give it a go while I was traveling and I learned a lot about how we eat and how setting, friends, plate and bowl size and proximity to name a few influence how and what we eat. So during February, I decide that I am going to try to implement some of the principles that I learned while listening to the book - in addition to trying to get my 500 calories three times a week with my weight workouts. Any Progress is Good Progress

For those of you that are women you can identify with me....some weeks there is this inner pull inside you that is so brutal that even the strongest of wills cannot resist - salt, sugar, chocolate, any food, all food!  Well this week was one of those weeks for me, combined with the fact that one of my best friends made me my favorite - vege beef pie (sorry to say I only shared a tiny piece)! However, as I reflected on the week I realized that I had two options: Option 1) "Leah you undisciplined person with little will power. After all this time, you should have already hit your goal" OR 2) "Leah, you lost one pound this week and that's good progress.  Next week make the effort to be a bit more disciplined, get that exercise in and make sure to drink lots of water. Some progress, is better than no progress. In fact slow steady progress helps to ensure lasting change." Change, change and more change

Ok, so for the 4th time, I am finally past my flu bug and I have been thinking for the past few days - what on earth am I going to write about? I am still 13 pounds down, the scale has not really moved, what can I say that's inspiring or speaks to my progress? Side bar - one thing about this blog, it actually makes me think about my progress because I know there are these folks out there cheering me, supporting me, expecting me to make some progress - THANKS GUYS!! So, I have tested and found that the food thing works, we know that exercise works, now I need to think about some ways to switch things up a bit, so that I can trick my body out of Homeostasis.  I did do something yesterday but I am not quite ready to talk about that yet.
